Age:
21
Motto:
LOVE GOD AND EVERYTHING ELSE WILL FOLLOW
1. Have you read Helen Andelin's book "The Fascinating Girl"? What were your first impressions?
No, I haven’t read it, but I’ve heard that it’s good.
No, I haven’t read it, but I’ve heard that it’s good.
2. Are you more of a 'princessy' type girl or a 'Tom-Boy'?
Right now I’m sort of in the middle. I used to be a tom-boy style girl, but now I am much more girly.
3. What advice would you give girls who are not very girly but are trying to be?
I think the biggest thing is don’t try to be someone you’re not, like I don’t think I’ll ever be a “princess” type, but I am learning to embrace the beauty of being a girl (well a woman really! I’m 21 now!!) However I do think it’s worthwhile becoming more girly/softer on the inside and developing beautiful character traits. As for appearance – learn to add accessories, enjoy being pretty, and don’t always rely on the one hair style, be inventive and creative!
4. What advice would you give a girl who is too girly?
It’s always good to enjoy the less girly things in life, and not to mind getting dirty every once in a while. It’s empowering to be strong and get out there and try things you may not think you’ll like. Get your wellies and coat on and go explore God’s creation. Find beauty in everything. Learn to find a balance as with all things.

5. What have you done to become more feminine?
Definitely in my late teens I really made an effort to dress less plainly, adding dress/tunic tops instead of t-shirts (cos I really can’t part with my jeans just yet!!) and I tried to be less “tough” and just acknowledge my feelings, be vulnerable and open with others, develop a softer, more romantic side (I’m not really referring to guy-girl love there) The dictionary defines romantic as “characterised by the expression of love.” My aim is always to be a girl characterised by the expression of God’s love in my life and to love the beauty God has put in my life.
6. What are your favourite and least favourite things about being a girl?
Favourite things – are probably being able to dress in pretty things and also its totally acceptable to hug your (girl) friends, sit close to them and complement people on stuff! :D And I’m not sure I have a least favourite thing, other than its trickier to go to the toilet when you’re walking/camping in the middle of nowhere. :P
7. What are your views on girls wearing makeup, earrings and trousers, etc.?
Well, I wear trousers all the time, and earrings, and I do wear makeup on occasions. I think as long as you are not doing it to show off or draw attention to your physical body, or to dress like a boy then its fine.
8. Define 'Modesty'...
Modesty I’d probably define as dressing/acting in a way that honours God and doesn’t draw attention to you in a vain way, but shows someone your character instead.
9. What do you think to wearing head coverings?
I think after prayer and study God gave us “long hair” as a covering, but I can see its down to personal choice and conviction.
10. Would you rather," just get married" or have a big wedding? What's
more important to you?
Just get married, I really don’t like being the centre of attention and having a wedding that showed off how wonderful God was and His love more than ours would be what’s most important.
11. When do you think the role of a helpmeet begins?
Well, you can prepare to be a helpmeet now, but maybe the actual role begins when you are committed and married.
12. What would you like to do when you're older?

13. Who has been a role model for you? (in a book, movie, real life?)
So many! Probably Amy Carmichael and Corrie Ten Boom mostly because of their love and commitment to Christ and their trust in Him. Their books are so inspiring!
14. What top 5 things do you think should be on any girls priority list?
1. To love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength!
2. Know the God you love and serve. Read the Bible, Pray.
3. Learn to be independent – learn how to deal with stuff yourself; fix the puncture, remove that spider as well as cooking and cleaning.
4. Self-discipline – this one sounds horrible, but trust me I wish I’d begun this earlier!
5. Begin to intercede for others in prayer, and encourage/serve the believers around you. (This is important to any Christian but especially as a helpmeet to your future husband.)(That’s probably more than five, but those are the most important things I’m working on now!)
15. What are your opinions on Courtships, Engagements, Betrothals etc?
This has been changing recently – I’m not too sure. God-centred definitely, but in some ways I’d rather get to know a guy well before I said “this is the man I’m going to marry,” so maybe a few dates first before a committed relationship. I’d say (to myself as well) that whatever you think, make sure you’ve prayed about it and really believe in what you stand for.

16. What would you like?
Like I said, I’m not altogether sure what people mean by each, but I think I’d go for more – committed dating and engagement?

17. What do you think most girls do but should avoid?
Day-dreaming about “the one” and if this guy or that guy that they’ve met is him! I do it all the time, and I’m learning it’s best to pursue God and let Him deal with it.
18. What things have really impacted your life? Experiences, lessons you've learned, anything!
Wow, hard one. At the moment, coming to Uni and getting my day-to-day turned upside down by different pressures has been a big lesson and one that is still ongoing. I’m learning that I have to be flexible to change and to cling to God throughout.

19. What are your views on the purity balls, purity rings, Daddy/daughter dates etc.? To be honest, I think it’s a bit over-rated and over the top, and putting such an emphasis on the future that you can easily forget the present. Making that commitment to purity has it’s place – but I think it should be in a more personal place with you and God. And it can put pressure on young girls to promise something they just “think” is a good idea, when what they really need is to be convicted about it themselves.
20. When did you get saved?
I was saved when I was 6, but re-committed my life to God and really started pursuing a relationship with Him around 13-14.
21. How many are in your family? Would you like to have a big family one day?
I have 3 younger brothers and 2 older half-brothers. 5 boys being the reason I was a bit of a tom-boy!
Yes! I really would. Fostering and Adoption being on the list too.
22. What has it been like to not only be the oldest but being the only girl in your family?
Challenging, but in a good way it made me closer to my Mum and God and I’ve developed strong friendships with other Christian girls.
23. Do you think education is more important than getting married and having a family?
I think that it’s more important to follow God and His will for your life, whether that be education, family, marriage or both!

24. Have you thought about children even choosing names for them before you thought about your husband?
Um… guilty. But I don’t want to be set on things like that. You never know who you’ll marry, or even if you will, and it’s best to let God lead you.
25. Name a few of your favourite Bible verses and passages...
I have loads of favourites, but probably the one that has had most impact on me is – 1 John 4:18-19 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us.
Thank you, Jasmine! You're answers are great and thanks for taking the time to write the interview! :)
